Wolfgang began his career as a mechanical engineer. After graduating, he spent four years overseas working in Canada, USA and the Netherlands. Throughout that time, he worked for a NYSE listed company, Albany International, the world’s largest producer of paper machine clothing.

In 1994, Wolfgang returned to South Africa having gained valuable experience and international exposure. He joined Beier Industries as a director and ushered in a period of great change.

Wolfgang played a pivotal role in negotiating a successful BEE transaction. Later he played a similar role in restructuring the company into a diverse manufacturing group. Beier Industries expanded, adding PVC/PU coating, and medical devices to the existing successful technical textiles, and safety footwear businesses. Wolfgang was then appointed Managing Director of Beier Industries in 2010.

Having successfully repositioned and restructured Beier Industries, the opportunity arose to merge Beier Safety Footwear with Bagshaw Footwear. The new joint venture acquired United Frams and Wayne Plastics. This merger led to the creation of the BBF Safety Group (Pty) Ltd. of which Wolfgang is the Executive Chairman.
